Pedal to the Meadow
Ride from Kekaha to Kanaloahuluhulu Meadow in Kokee Sate Park. Last year almost 100 cyclists participated in this event sponsored by the Tradewind Cycling Team. Online registration coming soon. Pedal to the Meadow is the official bicycle hill climb race on Kauai. It starts on the west side of the island and climbs along the Waimea Canyon rim to the Kanaloahuluhulu Meadow in Kokee State Park. It is a scenic and challenging climb that starts at hot dry sea level and ends deep in the cool wet upland forest of the Garden Island’s interior.
Tahitian Festival
A unique 2-day festival showcases Tahitian culture. Tahitian dance groups and soloists from Kauai, Hawaii, US and Japan compete in categories for traditional and contemporary styles of Tahitian dance and drumming. Crafts and food vendors sell a wide variety of food choices and gift products both days.
Taste of Kauai (Rotary Club of Kauai fundraiser , June)
Voted the "Best Community Event" on Kauai eight years running, the event will once again take place at Smith's Tropical Paradise. With 40 chefs, 10 beverage vendors, and 14 musical acts, its an afternoon of endless food, drink, and dancing.
Annual Kauai Kau Wela Summer Festival
Tahitian dance lovers are treated to a free concert by kids and adults. Kukui Grove Shopping Center.
The Kauai Bon Dance
A Bon Dance is a Japanese Buddhist custom to honor the spirits of family members that have passed away, and has been celebrated in Japan for more than 500 years. On Kauai in the summer there are many chances for you to experience in person. The festivals serve as both a ceremony of spiritual remembrance and a celebration of cultural heritage and community.
Annual Koloa Plantation Days Rodeo
A highlight event within the 10 day festival, dedicating to paniolo culture and a local style rodeo with a skill level from keiki to professional.
Red Clay Jazz Festival
The Red Clay Jazz Festival is all about local and international Jazz musicians, at the Kauai Lagoons Resort, this festival is produced by the Kauai Concert Association and brings noted jazz musicians to the island to share their talent and knowledge with music students and fans on the Garden Isle. Hawaii Ocean Film Festival
Cinefiles who also happen to be ocean lovers will find the best of both worlds at the Hawaii Ocean Film Festival. Films from Uruguay, Italy, Japan, Polynesia, the Amazon, the mainland U.S. and Hawaii have been screened at this unique festival.
Prince Invitational Golf Tournament
Annual 2-day 36 hole stroke play golf tournament is Kauai's only premier competitive golf tournament. Held at the newly renovated Prince Course, the tournament is expected to draw Hawaii's top professionals, amateurs and juniors who will compete for the championship.
Mokihana Festival
This festival was founded by the Malie Foundation as a way to perpetuate the Hawaiian language. This year's theme is Year of the Hula. Find events around the island filled with Hawaiian cultural experiences, hula, musical performances and more. (808) 246-2111
Monthly Starwatch
Kauai is the ideal location for astronomical observation. The Kauai Educational Association for Science & Astronomy conducts a monthly star watch in Kaumakani at the softball field. Follow highway 50 west past Hanapepe. After mile marker 18, look for KEASA signs on the right. Follow the KEASA signs for parking and star watch. Kauai Pow Wow
Over 200 Native Americans from across America and many friends join in a celebration of cultural exchange with the people of Kauai, accompanied by visiting youth drum groups. Native American and Native Hawaiian-made crafts, clothing, food, musical instruments and hands-on activities. Native American dancing all day. Friday evening; all day Saturday and Sunday. Farmers Market
Fresh locally grown produce, flowers, and Kauai made products are available for sale at Kukui Grove Center's Farmer's Market on Mondays in Lihue. On Tuesdays and Thursdays there is also a market at the Coconut Marketplace next to the condominium and Wednesdays in the Kapaa town park.
Kauai Music Festival
A four-day celebration of the art of song writing, offering seminar style instruction for small groups of songwriters, lectures, panel discussions, song writing contest, demo recordings, festival marketplace and two major concerts. Heiva I Kauai
The annual Heiva I Kauai Iorana Tahiti in Kapaa is an International Tahitian dance competition, taking place over several days, with solo and group performances, plus traditional and contemporary drumming categories. The Heiva begins with a Blessing, Opening Ceremony and Tamaraa honoring visiting dignitaries and the participating competitors. The program includes the Mr./Miss Heiva I Kauai Pageant.
Garden Island Orchid Show
An orchid show of hundreds of varieties. Orchids are on display and for sale along with lectures and demonstrations of general orchid culture. Held in Lihue at Vidinha Stadium and part of the Kauai Farm Bureau Fair. For more information call (808) 742-0333.
